What is User Experience (UX)?

This is the 1st article in a series of 3, discussing user experience. In this part, we talk about what we exactly understand about user experience. As awareness is the first step to change, let us kick off with some basics and answer the question: “What is it?”.

Definition

We all do love definitions. Therefore, let’s start with some explanations, formulated by different sources:

“User Experience” encompasses all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products.

Or as usability.gov says:

“User experience (UX) focuses on having a deep understanding of users and what they need. What do they value, what are their abilities, and limitations? It takes into account the business goals and objectives of the group managing the project. Best practices of UX promote improving the quality of the user’s interaction with and perceptions of your product and any related services”
